Korea and Czechia Amazed by Guadalajara Stadium

DATE: June 11, 2026

HOUR: 04:38 AM

All it takes is a drive along Guadalajara's western Periférico to be struck by the grandeur of Guadalajara Stadium, which rises like a volcano of passion on the edge of the city, where the urban landscape meets La Primavera Forest, the region's largest natural green space.

This Wednesday, Guadalajara Stadium got its first taste of the excitement surrounding a moment that will forever be etched in the city's history. On the eve of the match between the Republic of Korea and Czechia, both teams held their traditional pre-match press conferences, offering a first glimpse of the World Cup atmosphere that will make Guadalajara, alongside Mexico City, one of the few host cities in history to stage three FIFA World Cups™.

One of the most impressed visitors was Czech head coach Miroslav Koubek, who had nothing but praise for the playing surface at Guadalajara Stadium and highlighted the ideal conditions for delivering a great football spectacle.

"This is a fabulous, wonderful stadium, and I expected nothing less from a FIFA World Cup 2026™ venue. The pitch is in perfect condition, so the game will be fast, and if it rains, it will be even faster. I think that favors good football," said the Czech manager.

Meanwhile, Hong Myung-bo and Son Heung-min, head coach and captain of the Taeguk Warriors, respectively, expressed their satisfaction with the venue that will host their opening FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches and voiced confidence about getting their campaign off to a strong start.

"Tomorrow is the big day. Our journey on football's biggest stage begins. We've had plenty of time to prepare in the best possible way; my players have given everything and worked extremely hard. All of that work will show on the pitch tomorrow. We'll give it our all, and I hope we can get the win," said the South Korean coach.

"It's a pleasure to return to the FIFA World Cup 2026™, a stage I've dreamed about since I was young. My teammates are ready, and we've done everything possible because we want to start with a positive result. We're excited to compete and give everything we have on the field," concluded Son.

Everything is set for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ curtain to rise at Guadalajara Stadium this Thursday. At 8:00 p.m. (Central Mexico Time), the opening whistle will signal the start of the first of four matches to be played at Most Mexican Host City during FIFA World Cup 2026™, a night that will open a new chapter in Guadalajara's rich football history.
