Ambassadors Gala: The closing of the Road to the World Cup and the beginning of the countdown to 2026

Plaza de las Américas became the stage where the passion for football marked the closing of the World Cup Road led by the Guadalajara Organizing Committee. In an evening that celebrated the success of this phase, the GDL2026 Ambassadors were formally recognized. After months of promotion, they now take on a leading role in the operational phase of the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

This group of allies, made up of key business leaders, was recognized for its essential support as the host city officially begins the countdown to the tournament.

During the event, project leaders shared the visions shaping the technical direction of the host city. Juan José Frangie emphasized that “what seemed like a distant dream in 2018 is now a reality,” underscoring that after rigorous planning, “it is time to execute and fulfill the goal of becoming the best World Cup host city.”

Verónica Delgadillo highlighted the city’s football DNA, stating that Guadalajara will be “the most Mexican host city”and the one that best demonstrates the power of unity through sport. Amaury Vergara reinforced confidence in the city’s infrastructure, noting that Guadalajara Stadium meets international standards in technology and sustainability, and affirming that “Guadalajara has the best team as a host city.”

Finally, Olimpia Cabral, Host City Manager, marked the administrative milestone of the evening by declaring that this event officially closes the World Cup Road and that, from this moment forward, the project enters “operation mode.”With this gala, the Organizing Committee seals its working alliance with the business sector, consolidating a professional team that will ensure the host city not only meets but exceeds international expectations.

Guadalajara and Zapopan officially enter the final stretch, with their eyes set on the first whistle of 2026.
